We want you to know that the health of our patients, staff, and community is our FIRST priority!  Our office is OPEN and seeing dental patients in need of endodontic treatment.  We recognize that we must be prepared to adapt to changes as necessary in a responsible manner.  Please call the office phone number listed above to schedule an appointment.  If we do not answer, please leave a message and we will get back to you soon since we check the messages often.  We are abiding by the mandates and recommendations of our state and federal health agencies.


Our office utilizes the most up-to-date sterilization and disinfection protocols available to dental/medical offices. However, during these unprecedented times, we are taking extra steps to ensure your safety in our office.
Please call our office to reschedule your appointment if you, or a family member, have had any of the following:

  • Fever (confirmed or suspected)
  • Signs of a fever (chills, headache, generalized muscle achiness, shaking)
  • Sore throat
  • Coughing, sneezing, and/or shortness of breath
  • New loss of taste and/or smell
  • Had close contact with someone with these symptoms
  • Traveled anywhere with widespread, ongoing transmission of COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or been in close contact with someone who has.

Please do NOT come to our office until you have been symptom and fever free for at least 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-reducing medicines (e.g. cough suppressants).  Please rest assured our employees have been instructed to follow these same guidelines and are required to not come to work if exhibiting any signs of illness.


Please note that short-notice appointment cancellation fees will not apply during this time.

Our highly-skilled root canal specialists offers a wide spectrum of endodontic services, which includes root canal treatment, root canal re-treatment, microsurgical root surgery, and treatment of dental trauma. We utilize the most modern equipment and techniques and emphasize individual patient care. As active members of the American Association of Endodontists, through a commitment of excellence, Dr. Connelly and Dr. Saunders provide diagnostic-based strategies using the most advanced techniques, technologies, and materials relevant to endodontics.  We are conveniently located in Charlottesville, Virginia.



David J. Connelly, D.D.S.

Dr. Connelly received his D.D.S. from Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. He continued his post-graduate studies at Baylor and received his Certificate in Endodontics. His research has been published in the Journal of Endodontics and the Journal of Dental Research. 

Prior to dental school, Dr. Connelly graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and chose to return to central Virginia in 2006 to join a private Endodontic practice in Charlottesville. 

He and his wife, Jennifer, are proud parents of three children:  Abigail, Ella, and Luke. His outside interests include spending time with his family, golf, music, and travel.

Madison W. Saunders, D.D.S., M.S.D.

Dr. Saunders is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina.  She attended High Point University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and developed a keen interest in the Health Sciences, specifically dentistry. She chose to attend Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, where she received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  After completing a General Practice Residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha she returned to Richmond for a residency in Endodontics. During her tenure at VCU she had the honor of serving as Chief Resident in her second year. Upon completion of her residency, she earned a Certificate in Endodontics and a Masters of Science in Dentistry degree.


In her spare time, Madison loves to travel and to spend time outdoors with her husband, Bryan, their son, Wyatt, and their dog, Finn. She enjoys being a part of the Charlottesville community and providing excellent care for dental patients in need of endodontic treatment.
